The archivist’s favorite

Some documents are preserved for the information they contain; others for the beauty of their artwork.

What infinite patience it must have taken these religious women to arrange, in humble obscurity, spiritual bouquets for people in authority!  

And what time it must have taken to create an exquisite expression of appreciation to a member of the clergy, a superior, a benefactor, a companion!

These extracts from the Plan of Studies, written by Mother Véronique-du-Crucifix at the end of the 19th century, lead us to believe that the women who created them may often have become aware of their artistic talent at school when they were being taught fine penmanship and drawing. As Directress of Studies, Mother Véronique-du-Crucifix trained many generations of teaching sisters.

After joining the community, these women continued their education and, as sisters, contributed to enriching the SNJM artistic heritage
