World Oceans Day

According to the UN, “more than three billion people depend on marine and coastal biodiversity for their livelihoods. “World Oceans Day, which has been celebrated on 8 June since 2009, is an opportunity to raise collective awareness of our duties and responsibilities to use this resource in a sustainable development perspective.

Just like water, which is the subject of a collective SNJM position paper, the oceans play an essential role in the balance of our ecosystem. They are both the lungs of the planet and a source of food and medicine. Watch the video.
