World Day of Migrants and Refugees

Celebrated since 1914 by the Church, the World Day of Migrants and Refugees is an opportunity to raise awareness of the situation experienced by thousands of vulnerable people, forced displacement for one reason or another.

By focusing on the theme “Free to choose whether to migrate or to stay”, Pope Francis hopes to launch a reflection on the right to stay on one’s own land. It’s a right that has not been codified internationally, and one that deserves our full attention in the current context.

The website is packed with material for reflection, prayer and action in various forms, including visuals and video clips.

The Pope’s message for the 109th World Day of Migrants and Refugees (WDMR) is available in English, Spanish and French.

There are also materials for leading celebrations for adults, young people and children: English | Spanish | French.
