SNJM’s mobilize and march against human trafficking

MarcheLAANGLAIS

January 10, 2015, SNJM Sisters, Associates, Ramona Convent Secondary School students and friends, walked in the Koreatown area of Los Angeles, California to draw attention to Human Trafficking Awareness Day.

The route of "Walk 4 Freedom" was 2 miles long and took about 45 minutes. During that time those walking experienced a providential rain which was welcomed as a blessing during these years of drought in California.

Among the 250 participants were sisters of other religious communities who are members of the Southern California Partners for Global Justice, and the Coalition Against Slavery & Trafficking, the co-sponsors of the event, as well as students from various local Catholic Secondary and Elementary Schools. "This was the largest group we have ever had for an event like this and we are proud of it!" said Sister Jo'Ann De Quattro,SNJM.

About National Human Trafficking Awareness Day
January 11 was established by the United States Senate in 2007 as National Human Trafficking Awareness Day to promote awareness about human slavery throughout the world. Although it is a U.S. initiative, the United Nations is also working on global awareness of the problem.
